News from the vegetable garden

Sustainable values and commitments

Respect for nature and everyone is the key word, without ostentation but with sincerity and pragmatism. Our vegetable garden, our diversified and regularly maintained garden with the least possible contribution, the search for harmony between the mineral, the vegetable and the animal (we welcome respectful and clean dogs and can accommodate horses in the middle of nature) and man are our philosophy. Led lamps, watering and reasonable use of water in general, swimming pool heated by the sun, vegetable garden without pesticides, recycling of waste and compost, are already in place.

For this first summer, the vegetable garden that we created sheltered by dry stone walls downstream of the property and very close to the cottage, was very generous despite an obvious climatic challenge and thanks to the rational use of our cistern. .

Tomatoes, zucchini, aromatic herbs from the garden were particularly prolific and used in the preparation of our homemade aperitifs offered to each of our visitors upon their arrival. Raspberries, strawberries and blackcurrants have had more mixed success and we will have to learn from past experience.

Our ambitions for the next few months include the use of permaculture techniques, the association of flowers and vegetables, the planting of winter vegetables, new fruit trees in order to produce a wider range of good products which will enter the elaboration of our dishes, our homemade jams, our aperitifs and our Sunday brunches.
